Brown Bullhead

Brown Bullhead (Ameiurus nebulosus) — species reference image

Ameiurus nebulosus

Brown bullhead are freshwater catfish in the family Ictaluridae. Idaho Fish and Game lists this species as introduced in Idaho. Its scientific name distinguishes it from other bullheads: a record labelled only “bullhead catfish” is not enough to identify this species. Lake Lowell has a species-specific 2022 survey record, while Brownlee Reservoir has an older 1984 record. These observations are not current catch forecasts or permission to fish.

Documented in Lake Lowell and Brownlee Reservoir. The reviewed records describe whole-water occurrence, not a particular depth, shoreline or fishing access point.
